07年,您是怎么從自由職業(yè)到成為赫茲、歐迪臣的設(shè)計(jì)部首席呢?
How did you become the Chief of Design Department of the Hertz and Audison brands from a freelance designer?
Davide:
公司還未與任何一位工業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)師合作時(shí),我開(kāi)始為他們做一點(diǎn)項(xiàng)目。后來(lái)項(xiàng)目合作多了,我就負(fù)責(zé)公司所有新產(chǎn)品的設(shè)計(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)。
I started working on few projects when the Company just didn't have any collaboration with an Industrial Designer. The collaboration grew more and more until I have been charged to manage the design development of every new product the Company was going to produce.

您與歐迪臣、赫茲等品牌的合作是怎樣一種模式呢?
What kind of cooperation mode is it between you and the Hertz and Audison?
Davide:
我是作為他們的設(shè)計(jì)顧問(wèn),常常在出現(xiàn)在公司內(nèi)部。
I am a Design Consultant with a fequent presence in-house.

據(jù)了解,歐迪臣音響規(guī)格檔次齊全,無(wú)論什么功放什么價(jià)位都有,您為它設(shè)計(jì)的這一系列產(chǎn)品中,怎么把握不同檔次之間的度呢?
Based on reports, Audison has a series of audio systems with complete range of specifications and levels in different prices. In your design, how do you grasp and control the difference among these products?
Davide:
設(shè)計(jì)技術(shù)含量高的產(chǎn)品意味著要考慮到產(chǎn)品的許多方面。工作時(shí)你會(huì)拿到一份精確的簡(jiǎn)報(bào),里面寫(xiě)了使用何種材料,具體的生產(chǎn)流程(可能是注塑模具,壓鑄,擠壓等),還有生產(chǎn)成本。所以作為設(shè)計(jì)師,你的工作就是要整合所有這些信息,做出一個(gè)帶有強(qiáng)烈審美沖擊力的產(chǎn)品,讓給出的材料和生產(chǎn)流程發(fā)揮最好的效用。產(chǎn)品系列中的每一個(gè)產(chǎn)品都需要帶有引人注目的系列感,同時(shí)還要有區(qū)別彼此的設(shè)計(jì)元素。
Designing products with high level of technology means to consider many aspects of the product. You receive a very precise brief with the materials to use, specific production processes (may it be injection mould, die cast, extrusion, and so on) a given production cost. So the work of the designer is to collect all these informations and realize a product with a strong aesthetic impact, taking the best out of the materials and production processes. Every product serie should keep a noticeable family feeling and some distinctive design elements that differ from the others.

您為眾多品牌服務(wù),怎么掌握并體現(xiàn)品牌的元素呢?
As you have served many brands, in what kind of way can you grasp and display their typical elements?
Davide:
我與合作的公司保持著密切的聯(lián)系,這意味著我對(duì)于這些公司的歷史,它們的產(chǎn)品類目,它們?nèi)绾卧谠O(shè)計(jì)流程中創(chuàng)新等有深刻的認(rèn)知。
I work in close contact with the Companies I collaborate with. That means I have deep knowledge of the Company history, their product catalogue, how the Company can innovate through design process.

您的工作室是什么定位呢?
What is the positioning of your studio?
Davide:
我的工作室所專注的工業(yè)產(chǎn)品設(shè)計(jì)主要在音響產(chǎn)品、消費(fèi)者產(chǎn)品,電子產(chǎn)品,家用電器,以及一小部分的家具和家居產(chǎn)品。設(shè)計(jì)這樣不同的產(chǎn)品類型,方法就是綜合多學(xué)科且折中的。這表示,創(chuàng)新可來(lái)自于新材料的應(yīng)用(比如,將一種產(chǎn)品類型中常使用的材料用到另一個(gè)幾乎沒(méi)用過(guò)這種材料的領(lǐng)域中),新功能的開(kāi)發(fā)、新社會(huì)需求的挖掘。我們想要達(dá)到的目標(biāo)是創(chuàng)造出有意義的產(chǎn)品,先進(jìn)同時(shí)又為大眾所接受,正如Raymond Loewy 所說(shuō)的,具有被定義為“彎曲理性主義”的強(qiáng)烈美學(xué)沖擊力,形狀總是在無(wú)褶皺線條和柔軟細(xì)節(jié)之間取得平衡。
My studio activity is focused Product Design for the Industry in the field of Audio products, Consumer goods, Electonics, Home Appliances and for a small part Furniture and Home objects.Having worked with such different product typologies, the approach is multidisciplinary and eclectic. That means innovation may come from new material applications (e.g. : a common material used for a product typology can be used for another industry field in which it has never been used), new functions, new social needs. The result we try to achieve with our work is to create meaningful products, most advanced yet acceptable as Raymond Loewy would say, with a strong aesthetic impact defined as 'curved rationalism', where shape is always balanced between no-frills lines and soft details.

意大利大小設(shè)計(jì)公司云集,您的工作室是憑著怎樣的優(yōu)勢(shì)立足的呢?
In Italy, a country where there are lots of design companies and studios, what is the advantage for your studio to keep a foothold?
Davide:
我的工作室涉及的產(chǎn)品領(lǐng)域是許多設(shè)計(jì)工作室所沒(méi)有的。在意大利,大部分的設(shè)計(jì)工作室都是做家具,家居產(chǎn)品等。非常少的工作室是在做工業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)。我認(rèn)為這個(gè)優(yōu)勢(shì)是關(guān)鍵。這也意味著我的許多作品不會(huì)出現(xiàn)在人們所認(rèn)為的“設(shè)計(jì)”雜志上,同時(shí)作為設(shè)計(jì)顧問(wèn),我的收入逐年增長(zhǎng)(而我知道許多做家具的同事很難獲得可觀的收入)。
I do work in those fields of products where many other design studios don't want to. In italy the majority of design studios work for furniture, home objects and so on. There are very few design studios which work in industrial design field. I consider this ad the key point. That means many of my work won't be featured on what people consider as 'design' magazines, but also that I have as design consultant a revenue that is growing year after year (while I know many collegues working on furniture field that they struggle to have a respectable income).

工作中,甲方和乙方之間難免存在矛盾。如果遇到矛盾,是如何處理的呢?
In the process of offering service, usually the controversy between Party A and B is inevitable, how do you deal with that?
Davide:
多年里我都是和那些已經(jīng)與之建立了忠誠(chéng)與穩(wěn)定業(yè)務(wù)關(guān)系的客戶合作。
Working with Clients with which I built a loyal and strong business relationship through the years.

為這么多品牌服務(wù)后,有打算創(chuàng)建自己的品牌嗎?
Since you have been offering service to many brands, have you ever thought to start your own brand?
Davide:
有的,大概不久后就會(huì)。
Yes, and I will probably do it in the near future.
納金網(wǎng):
意大利有設(shè)計(jì)趨勢(shì),中國(guó)有廣闊市場(chǎng),你有意向?qū)I(yè)務(wù)拓展至中國(guó),將二者結(jié)合起來(lái)嗎?
Italy has advantage in design trend which China has great market. Have you ever considered to expand you business to China, combining these two together?
Davide:
絕對(duì)的。我非常想將業(yè)務(wù)拓展至中國(guó)?,F(xiàn)在我已經(jīng)與幾個(gè)中國(guó)客戶有過(guò)合作,我希望將來(lái)還有機(jī)會(huì)再次合作。我想,未來(lái)設(shè)計(jì)在中國(guó)會(huì)非常重要,我也想成為這其中的一部分。
Absolutely yes. I would love to expand my business to China. I have work with some Chinese Clients and I hope in the future to have other opportunities to do it again. I think design will play a great role in the future of China, and would be great to be part of it.
